So right, the slowing down wont' come to us naturally. A "conscious effort" really is needed. It occurred to me as I was reading your comment- we don't practice the silence too much in church either. Get out and share God's love through the smallest of things that I could do. It doesn't have to be on such a large scale, that scares me. Just being there for someone in a shelter, serving meals to the homeless, etc. is a good place to start. I don't have to preach to them, just be there as someone that they can trust and "lean" on. Showing them that I care for them and want to just be there to listen and support them. I don't know how to "whip out my Bible" and quote scripture like so many do, I wish I did, but I think God would put what he wants me to say to these less fortunate folks in my mouth to tell them. I would pray that HE would do that and point me to the scripture that's just right for the circumstances. This blog was just what I needed and I thank God that I received it at the perfect time....right here at the holidays when so many folks need help. I get it now, that all I've been doing is soaking up what's been said in church and not sharing it with others that are in need. How selfish I've been?!?!?!? I just understood that God will deal with the ones that reject me when I'm sharing with them, according to this blog, that is one of the reason's that I've not gone out and shared like I should, no excuse now! Finally, all I can say is thank you for this blog at this time.....I needed it!!
